MediaBuyerPlanner: Another CBS talk duo has been suspended, but this time not by CBS. The Opie & Anthony show has been suspended by XM Satellite Radio for 30 days, effective immediately.
The pair invited a guest known as Homeless Charlie onto the show, during which Charlie talked about having sex with Condoleeza Rice, Laura Bush and Queen Elizabeth, writes Radio Ink. The comments became ever more outrageous, and when XM let the hosts know that it was not amused, the two issued an apology. But XM later decided to suspend Opie and Anthony, saying it was important to “make clear that our on-air talent must take seriously the responsibility that creative freedom requires of them.”
CBS recently fired the hosts of The Dog House with JV following an on-air call during which the hosts made racial slurs, just weeks after firing Don Imus for his inappropriate remarks about the Rutgers women’s basketball team.
