MediaBuyerPlanner: The Women’s Soccer Initiative Inc., headquartered in San Francisco, has signed eight teams for a spring 2008 launch, and is looking for a national sponsor to represent the league.
The WSII is in talks with Soccer United Marketing to help find the national sponsor; other opportunities for local team and stadium sponsorship are available, as well, writes Media Life.
Sponsorship could include everything from field boards at games to game-day promotions to print collateral and brand licensing to soccer camps and clinics. Games will be televised, providing additional exposure. Sponsor logos will appear on team uniforms. Twenty games plus an All Star game will be played in the 2008 season.
Locations for the eight teams are Los Angeles, Washington D.C., St. Louis, Dallas, Chicago, New York/New Jersey, Boston, and Bridgeview, Ill. Another team has been franchised but no location has yet been set.
