Who’s Going to Scottsdale? Frank C. Martin, III

The upcoming MarketingProfs Digital Marketing Mixer takes place next month in Scottsdale, Arizona. You’ve probably already seen the stellar speaker lineup, keynotes, and sponsor list. But as the name “Mixer” suggests, the attendees are an equally important part of the.. well, mix. In an occasional series, I highlight some of the people that will be attending. First up: Frank C. Martin, III.

Q: Tell me a little about yourself.

A: Martin Research is a full service marketing research and marketing consulting company that has been in business for 38 years. We provide qualitative research services to clients nationwide. I’m CEO, which means that I’m responsible for maintaining and developing client relationships and for changing the water bottle and shoveling the sidewalk.
frank.jpgQ: Why did you decide to attend the MarketingProfs Digital Marketing Mixer?
A; Social media is fairly new, and as a researcher/consultant it is important for me to stay on top of emerging media trends. My clients are in the uncomfortable position of thinking they need to be doing something, but are not quite sure what to do. I’m hoping this conference will deepen my knowledge of what is happening in social media, and who the major players and consultants are. I also hope to be able to explore new ways to measure the impact of social media on consumer behavior, which will help clients as they are considering it as a part of their mix.
And honestly, the opportunity to meet people that I have come to know on Twitter and Plurk and admire tremendously …. like [Ann Handley], Connie Reece, Donna Tocci, Mack Collier, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Amber Naslund is a huge draw for me.
Q: What do you hope to get out of the MarketingProfs event?
A: Knowledge, contacts, deeper friendships with online colleagues, potential sources of referrals for marketing consulting and research.
Q: Is there anyone special/any kind of vendor you hope to meet there?
A: I just committed to Blue Sky for my email campaign, so I’ll be looking forward to meeting them. Also, I’m looking forward to learning what other vendors and services are out there that may have specific applications of interest to my clients.

Q: Which session is a “must-attend” for you?

A: I’ll be involved with the Social Media Track for sure; all of those look very interesting. Also, I need to learn a bit more about email marketing, so I’// be popping into some of those sessions too. If Chris Brogan or Connie Reece or Ann Handley or Mack Collier are talking, I’ll be there drinking it in!
