The upcoming MarketingProfs Digital Marketing Mixer takes place next month in Scottsdale, Arizona. You’ve probably already seen the stellar speaker lineup, keynotes, and sponsor list. But as the name “Mixer” suggests, the attendees are an equally important part of the.. well, mix. In an occasional series, I highlight some of the people that will be attending. Now up: Christine Whittemore.
Tell me a little about what you do.
I’m the director of in-store innovation for Solutia Inc.’s Wear-Dated carpet fiber division. Solutia is a manufacturing company. My division manufactures nylon 6,6 fiber that goes into various end use applications, including residential carpet. I work with the Wear-Dated carpet fiber brand which is our brand to the consumer for carpet made with our fiber, and am responsible for social media/digital strategy and its execution for the Wear-Dated brand.
Even though we represent a traditional, old-economy — non high-tech — business, Wear-Dated is heavily involved in social media both for B2B and B2C.
How many events do you attend a year?
I try to attend two to three outside of the carpet / flooring industry.
So why the Digital Marketing Mixer?
I attended the inaugural MarketingProfs B2B event last October and was disappointed to miss the June event this year. Given the high caliber and the quality of the speakers and participants, I knew the Digital Marketing Mixer would be as good or better — yes, Ann, the pressure is on!
I’m also at a point with my social media and digital strategies where I want and need to hear from others to determine next steps, best practices and approaches.
What do you hope to get out of the MarketingProfs event?
I really admire organizations and practitioners able to take digital tools and apply them in such a practical and intuitive manner that they make sense for all end users. That’s what I expect to learn about at the Digital Marketing Mixer. Case studies, best practices, discussions about ideas that worked and those that didn’t. Although my heart is with social media, I’m eager to absorb the search marketing perspective.
Is there anyone special/any kind of vendor you hope to meet there?
I’m looking forward to meeting virtual friends like Becky Carroll and Chris Brogan. I’ve heard so much about Katie Payne, and I’d love to learn from the Consiglieri Scott Monty.
Which session is a “must-attend” for you?
Rohit Bhargava’s, whom I met briefly at Blogger Social, and Gary Vaynerchuck.
What do you anticipate will be your biggest challenge?
How to attend all of the sessions that interest me. Ann, how could you schedule so many fascinating and competing sessions?
