Well, B.L., part of getting people to read and comment on a blog entry is an intriguing headline.
Saying something is dead catches attention. Your headline was great:
"Web 2.0 Dead? Don't Be Silly! It's Just Starting"
That got my attention in a second.

And also, people love to write stories saying that this or that is now "dead."
Hell, I wrote an article with the headline "The Traditional Press Release is Dead" in 1998. They're still around too, but their part in the mix is much different.
Social media will definitely evolve, change, grow - but it's not going away.

Despite the dot-com boom and bust, Web 1.0 is *now* thriving!
I think people might have thought that it was dead after the bust.
Booms like this tend to be a process of charting new territory. Of course, there will be corrections in course and, frankly, firms that don't make it.

As with most things, shouldn't we expect social media and other technology to evolve? The social media outlets today may morph into something completely different tomorrow. That's what makes this so exciting.

If you have heard Web 2.0 is dead? To paraphrase Mark Twain: "Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."
This is Web 2.0:
1. There is stakeholder involvement. That is, people contribute and interact. It is not a one-way conversation and there is a minimum of command and control.
2. Probably, Ajax is involved: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_%28programming%29" rel="nofollow">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_%28programming%29</a>
3. You have to the potential to achieve synergy where the sum of the contributions creates a greater whole (e.g., Wikipedia or Marketing Profs).
