MediaBuyerPlanner: While the big outdoor players like Clear Channel and Lamar have been prominently converting old billboards to digital – and building new digital billboards – independent outdoor operators are quietly doing the same.
Watchfire Digital Outdoor today announced the sale of 16 digital billboards to independent outdoor operators.
JR Promotions in Columbus, Indiana, will install central Indiana’s first two 14′ x 48′ digital billboards in September. BASS, Ltd., in Lafayette, Louisiana purchased six LED billboards including two 12′ x 40′ digital billboards and four 10′ x 35′ digital billboards.
Oliver Real Estate in Pittsburgh acquired five of the billboards and Zalla Companies in Covington, Kentucky purchased one for the Cincinnati market. Others of the billboards were purchased for the Bloomington, Illinois and Burlington, North Carolina markets.
Watchfire will build nearly 5,000 LED faces in its factory this year, according to Darrin Friskney, director of Watchfire Digital Outdoor.
