MarketingVOX: Warner Music has reconsidered its relationship with imeem and, instead of suing the site, will now work with it to distribute music, reports BetaNews.
The file exchange service was initially sued by the record label, which charged that imeem willfully allowed its users to trade copyrighted material. But now the two parties have struck a deal that will give imeem access to Warner’s entire catalog of music in exchange for a percentage of ad revenue.
imeem created a program that would allow it to distribute music and share ad revenue with labels last month. It only managed to sign deals with a few of the smaller labels, making Warner Music the first large player to take advantage of the platform.
