MediaBuyerPlanner: Wal-Mart has embraced the web 2.0 revolution and is inviting customers to rate and review products on its website.
The retailer ran a limited test of user-generated ratings and reviews in June, and received nearly double the number of review submissions anticipated, writes Direct Magazine. Customers can submit reviews of products via the product page, and they are also invited, via email, to review a product a few weeks after they have ordered one online.
Customer reviews and ratings have been the most often requested feature of the website, according to Cathy Halligan, chief marketing officer for Walmart.com.
