MediaBuyerPlanner: TVGuide.com is officially launching its Online Video Guide on Tuesday. The Guide is a search service that offers a manageable way to “channel-surf” independent and professional-grade video content from more than 55 broadcast, cable network and other major entertainment-focused websites.
For example, searching for 24 or The Office on another search engine would result in too many irrelevant results to count. The Online Video Guide, though, will first list free episodes available at the network website, and then to all other professionally produced content related to the show, says Paul Greenberg, general manager of TV Guide Online (via Reuters).
The guide launched in beta in April. For the official launch, the site contains new features highlighting the most timely online videos, including full episodes of this season’s shows.
The Guide will also be more tightly integrated throughout TVGuide.com and featured prominently on the site’s homepage as well as on pages tied to top TV shows throughout the site.
An Online Video Daily newsletter is launching to coincide with the start of the fall TV season and “will help passionate viewers keep up with the deluge of hot new shows, missed episodes and buzz-worthy video content,” according to Gemstar-TV Guide.
