MediaBuyerPlanner: Cartoon Network’s guerrilla marketing event campaign that led Boston into a bomb-scare crisis has led to the resignation of Jim Samples, executive vp and general manager of Turner Broadcasting’s Cartoon Network.
Samples told employees, in an internal memo, that he hoped his decision to step down would put “this chapter behind us,” MediaPost reports. Executives at Turner say Samples was the most senior Turner Broadcasting executive to approve the campaign, designed to promote the show Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Turner has agreed to pay $2 million to the city of Boston for expenses related to the stunt.
