MediaBuyerPlanner: Last week, Discovery announced a new eco-focused channel called PlanetGreen. This week, Sundance Channel has announced a new weekly block devoted to environmental issues.
The block, called The Green, represents the biggest programming investment the network has made since its launch 12 years ago, writes Media Life. A half-hour documentary series called Big Ideas for a Small Planet will air Tuesdays at 9, followed by 30-minute documentaries based on a potential crisis facing the environment.
Sundance has an audience of 25 million, with a median age of 42. Seventy percent said in a recent study by the network that they think preserving the environment is very important.
