South Park Duo Inks Revenue-Sharing Deal with Comedy Central

MarketingVOX: Matt Parker and Trey Stone have signed a new deal with Comedy Central that gives them a share of the network’s ad revenue, reports The New York Times.
The contract signed with Comedy Central handsomely rewards them for the decade of South Park’s success and keeps them around for another four years. Stone and Parker will be getting more money upfront as well as a share of the show’s ad revenue, something that’s been strictly off-limits in much of television.
The shared revenue will largely come from ads sold against official versions of episodes that will be available online. Many ads will also be sold on SouthParkStudios.com, where Parker and Stone will extend the South Park franchise and come up with new ideas for experimentation and potential development as a show.
TV networks have jealously guarded ad revenue from creatives. This deal could be the first hole in that wall.
