Seven Content Marketing Tips From Top Chefs [Infodoodle]

After watching a marathon of Food Network programs, I realized that much of the advice from top chefs regarding fab cooking is the same type of advice for content creators.

Inspired by the chefs who want to serve fresh, attractive food, I drew an infodoodle for marketers wanting to serve refreshing, flavorful content to their customers.

Here are seven tips for content marketing, based on advice from top chefs.

1. Use fresh ingredients. Fresh content retains its natural flavor. Avoid stale or processed content.

2. Know your customers. Present content that pleases your customers’ palates.

3. Keep the menu simple. Don’t overcomplicate content or overdo the dish with too many flavors.

4. Be seasonal. Use content that you align to the seasons.

5. Know where to shop. If you curate content, curate the good stuff.

6. Experiment in the kitchen. Try new forms of content. See what pleases your customers… and have fun!

7. Experience matters. Be patient. Take time to learn from your mistakes. Breathe.

  1. Okay, as the Word Chef (who just wrote a book called “Attract and Feed a Hungry Crowd: How thinking like a Chef can help you build a solid business”), I have to say WOOT to this infodoodle. Sharing the crap out of it today. And looking forward to connecting with a like-minded soul (you, the artist) elsewhere on the interwebz.

Content and food should be all those three things, don’t you think? :) Thanks for your kind comment.

I love and agree with the analogy of food! I love using analogies when explaining to clients, it’s much clearer to them.
Thanks for the reminder! Indeed: Fresh, Simple and Experience are keys to content!
    Cheers!

  4. Wow – The metaphor clearly works as it’s the one I used to write an entire e-book on content marketing for nonprofits released in September 2011, called the Nonprofit Content Marketing Cookbook. For comparison, here are my chapter titles, so you can see how I played out the metaphor:

Veronica – as a chef and content creator you hit the head right on the nail! I have been creating food and kitchen related products content for 4 years now, while almost being on food network, and could not agree more with what you wrote. I would certainly love to connect a bit more with you. Thanks for a great article
