Pinterest can be a wonderland for the visually inclined. You can spot all sorts of yummy eye candy, from extraordinary crafting to astonishing geekery. But sometimes, you stumble across a user’s board and know that it’s just too darn perfect.
You know the Pinterest users I’m talking about. They’re the ones with scads of boards that reveal a perfect life with pictures of crafts, parties, home decor, and trips that are so outrageously perfect and wonderful that suddenly, you start to feel a little disconnected from the user. (Or end up talking to the screen: “Who has time to do this? Does someone’s house really look like that? How much money and time do they have to spare?”)
That’s why some of our favorite boards are ones that aren’t too button-down perfect. The boards that can mix it up a little are the ones that we tend to love the best. For example, boards that we like best tend to show a sense of humor (like the Total Wines & More Pinterest board that has pins of Things That Make Us Smile or Sharpie’s boards featuring Sharpie-fied shoes), and solid and helpful information (like Dublin Metro Dental Group’s pins, which include dental-health tips and dental humor).
And then, we see boards that seem a little… different.
To gently poke fun at the perfection of some Pinterest boards, I drew the following doodle for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

I’m partial to the board Leigh Durst, Shelley Ryan and I maintain at “What NOT To Pin”:

LOL….
Just checked out the “what not to pin” board. Having a bit of a creative slump today–no, I did NOT get any ideas from the board, but it was an energizing break. Thanks for some great laughs!
Glad to provide a respite, Susan.
