MediaBuyerPlanner: The first deal using the eBay Media Marketplace has been inked, between Universal McCann on behalf of Intel and the Oxygen network.
The deal, valued in the six figures, marks the first time the tech giant has advertised on Oxygen, writes MediaPost. Oxygen signed on for the marketplace, against the recommendation of the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau, in the hopes of signing advertisers it would not ordinarily get. Oxygen has a second deal in the works, according to the network.
Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Home Depot have all been steadfast supporters of the marketplace, and Oxygen’s second deal is likely to be with one of the three. Home Depot, in particular, has indicated that signing up to participate in the marketplace is a good way for networks that Home Depot had not yet advertised with to get on the marketer’s radar screen.
The marketplace is also testing a marketplace for the sale of radio spots.
