Great article!
I think this is very relevant content to all of us who have / had or are still having problems with spam!
My main concern now is how we can resolve the problem?
I think that this article was great and also had great details about the security issues of tomorrow! That is why we all need a very good system security! The best one for me is the one from BitDefender! It really has a very good detection rate and unique settings like game mode and laptop mode and those settings make it special and super useful for me ( I'm a rough GAMER :) - on a laptop :D)!
The spam filters made for a wile now, my online life SPAMless!

This is a very good article, we've been looking at choosing an an ESP recently and I've been doing quite a bit of looking around at who caters for the small to business market and reading a fair number of articles on how difficult it can be to properly trace your ROI on these kinds of things.
I agree that there is a certain amount of 'mystery' to it all, however, this is absolutely something we have to deal with in just about all types of marketing, be it tv, radio or printed advertising, they're all based on guestimated viewer/readership figures and whatnot, at least with email you get a fair representation of what's going on, I think expecting 100% accuracy is always unlikely, It's more important to focus on trends I feel.
Thanks for the insightfully article!
Rob

Stephanie,
Thank you for this teaching moment. eMail remains one of marketing's most productive tools; however, most marketers, including me, don't have the technical knowledge to understand deliverability. For example, I had no idea that...
"Many ESPs already track this data at the aggregate level. They can do so by "seeding" most of the email campaigns, and watching to see if the seed accounts reach the inbox, get filtered to the junk folder or just go missing. The performance of the seed accounts is a reliable proxy for inbox placement of the entire file."
Finally, you talk about processing bounces correctly. What does that look like?
