NYTimes.com Debuts ‘Urbanite’ Daily Email Pub

MarketingVOX: NYTimes.com announced the Nov. 3 launch of Urbanite, a free daily email newsletter about what to do, see, eat, drink and buy in New York City.
The Times will rely on online banner ads to promote Urbanite, which will alos call attention to NYT blogs, podcasts and multimedia that can help readers experience life in the city (via MediaBuyerPlanner). Urbanite will be sent to subscribers each weekday by 8:15 a.m. Brooklyn journalist Melena Ryzik, who has covered NYC culture and style since 2001, will write Urbanite. Arts & Leisure editor Ariel Kaminer will oversee it.
The Friday edition – Urbanite Weekend – has replaced the NYTimes.com’s New York Style weekly email newsletter.
“We are thrilled to add Urbanite to The Times’s offerings online,” Alyse Myers, SVP and CMO of The New York Times Media Group, said in a statement. “This innovative email newsletter is a great new opportunity for advertisers to reach a targeted audience each morning.”
