MarketingVOX: Warner Music is snubbing Nokia’s new music store due to another Nokia file sharing venture that Warner claims is a hotbed for illegal downloads.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Nokia’s Mosh — a file-sharing site — is being used to distribute copyrighted material. Not to be confused with Yahoo’s latest social venture, Mosh was originally designed for Nokia handset owners to create and share content.
However, the site can also be accessed online, and has copyrighted material buried “under a sea of user generated media.”
Warner told Billboard that the two were far from a deal and that litigation was a possibility. Meanwhile, Nokia claims it regularly polices its Mosh site and that copyrighted works have a lifespan of only a couple days. However, the Register says that’s far from true.
