MediaBuyerPlanner: In a reversal of the print-to-web trajectory most magazine content takes, New York magazine plans to spin off some of its online fashion coverage into a semiannual magazine.
New York Look will debut in November, and will be “an incredibly ruthless distillation of the trends of the season,” according to editor in chief Adam Moss, Women’s Wear Daily writes. The magazine will be a combination of controlled circ. and selective newsstand sales. The magazine will have little writing and no portfolio photography, only runway shots.
It will be nothing like its potential competitor, The New York Times’s T:Style, Moss says. “It will not look like a supplement. It will look like a beautiful magazine,” he is quoted as saying.
