MediaBuyerPlanner: A new magazine focusing on the Southern woman is launching in October. Southern Beauty magazine aims to unfold Southern charm in a format that is “stylish, yet inviting – hallmark attributes of a true Southern beauty,” according to a release.
The editors of the magazine believe that the trademark, sultry charm of a Southern woman – think Julia Roberts, Ashley Judd or preview cover model Reese Witherspoon – can be deconstructed into four essential components: face, hair, body and soul. Each issue of the magazine will include sections devoted to each.
Southern Beauty’s demographic is well educated, professional females between the ages of 25 and 49. Readers of the preview issue – published in October – skewed 95 percent female with a median age of 35 years old and a median household income of over $100,000, with 71 percent owning their principal residence. A holiday issue will be published Nov. 27, followed by a full national newsstand launch on March 18.
According to the magazine’s website, Southern Beauty is “not only a resource for the Southern woman, but for any woman who is attracted to a lifestyle of everyday elegance and inner beauty.”span>
Upscale advertisers like Laura Mercier, Dillard’s, Borghese and Christian Dior were included in the preview issue.
