Netflix, Oscars in Promotional Partnership

MarketingVOX:Online DVD rental service Netflix is going all out to get its subscribers to watch this year’s Oscar telecast, as part of a deal with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
The Netflix homepage and a new microsite will use this year’s theme of memorable movie lines to educate people about classic films. Netflix will also be holding a survey on its site asking for the most memorable movie quotes from 2006.
Meanwhile, Oscar.com, the official website of the Academy Awards, will drive people to Netflix to learn more about the movies related to the quotes campaign. Netflix will also be part of the AMPAS radio promotions.
Netflix is also promoting the “31 Days of Oscar” from Turner Classic Movies with print ads on the envelopes in which Netflix subscribers receive their DVDs.
