MarketingVOX: Following on the heels of other similar executions, MTV will create a virtual world for its “Pimp My Ride” show, reports Reuters.
MTV has already created a virtual extension of Laguna Beach and a second, original one called Virtual Hills. The new one will be modeled after the real Van Nuys, CA and be connected to the other two by means of a highway.
MTV will pimp out the virtual Pimp world with e-commerce and other features over the next three months. Residents of MTV’s virtual world will be able to build houses and learn skills in-world. Some?600,000 users have registered for MTV’s virtual environments; 85 percent of them are female.
MTV has other virtual worlds in the planning stages, including a music-oriented one and one for the gay-targeted Logo channel.
