MoveOn Sanctions Dropped Google Ads for Political Campaign

MarketingVOX: MoveOn.org has backed down from the Google ad controversy, allowing Senator Susan Collins (R, Maine) to use its namesake in ads blasting the left-wing political organization.
“We don’t want to support a policy that denies people freedom of expression,” MoveOn’s Jennifer Lindenauer told Wired.
Google maintains the ads were pulled on account of a stringent trademark policy designed to weed out advertisers using company names for fraudulent means.
Ads such as “Stop Moveon.org. More MoveOn money in Maine than anywhere else. Learn how to help,” directed users to Collins’ campaign re-election website.
