MediaBuyerPlanner: Radio stations along Mexico’s northern U.S. border will soon be able to voluntarily begin broadcasting with HD Radio technology.
A proposal has been put forth by the country’s Federal Telecommunications Commission. When approved, Mexico will join countries such as Argentina, Australia, Bosnia, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Switzerland, Thailand, and Ukraine that have begun testing the technology, according to iBiquity, the company that created HD Radio technology.
There are currently 1,300 HD Radio stations on the air in the United States.
