MediaBuyerPlanner: Metro New York has signed on as Official Newspaper Sponsor of the New York Titans, the first professional lacrosse team to call New York City home, the paper announced today.
The Titans play their first home game at Madison Square Garden on January 20, and return to the arena for games on February 17, March 3, and March 17.
“When the Titans announced their arrival in New York, we saw enormous potential for a fruitful collaboration,” said Metro New York publisher Daniel Magnus, adding that the paper’s “young and professional demographic” is an excellent match with fans of the sport.
As part of the partnership, Metro New York will receive a full-page ad in the team’s program guide, a dashboard banner at all three Madison Square Garden games, and a “Metro Minute” broadcast both on Arenavision and on SportsNet NY’s televised games.
In addition, Metro New York will sponsor the Titans’ pre-game bar crawl, called Titans on Tap Tavern Tour. Advertisements for Titans games will appear in Metro New York before each New York game, and Titans forward Ryan Boyle will star in the newspaper’s New York Times “Do You Metro?” ad campaign
According to Metro New York, attendance at National Lacrosse League games is at an all-time high. The league’s average attendance for the 2006 season was just under 11,000 fans per game, with several games played in front of crowds in excess of 16,000 fans.
