MediaBuyerPlanner: Revenue for Media General Inc. in June climbed 3.4 percent, thanks to the acquisition of four NBC television stations, writes Editor & Publisher. Newspaper ad sales, however, slipped 11.7 percent.
Lower spending in all ad categories contributed to the decline. Classified advertising at The Tampa Tribune fell 37.7 percent.
The broadcast division revenue slid, as well, down 24.8 percent.
The interactive media unit saw gains, with a 58.9 percent increase in June revenue. That number includes the new NBC station websites and an increase in sales from its Blockdot advergaming business.
