MediaBuyerPlanner: Marriott and Nickelodeon are partnering to create a wide-ranging family of resorts as a way of attracting advertisers that want to reach adults through kids.
The Nickelodeon Resorts by Marriott will be geared toward the affluent, according to MediaPost. The first resort, likely in San Diego, will have a water park and interactive experiences involving Nick characters like Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants. The 650-room resort is expected to open in 2010.
Nineteen more sites are expected to extend beyond the U.S., and could include the Caribbean, Europe, and the Middle East.
