MediaBuyerPlanner: Julie Roehm’s suit against Wal-Mart has been dismissed by a Michigan judge, who said that Roehm should have sued Wal-Mart in Arkansas, where the retailer is based, writes Adweek. Roehm’s lawyer has said that Roehm is deciding whether to sue in Arkansas or to appeal the decision in Michigan.
Roehm filed suit against Wal-Mart in January, after being fired from her job as svp, marketing communications, by the retail giant in December for apparent ethical breaches. Wal-Mart, which has a company policy against relationships between managers and subordinates, counter-sued, accusing Roehm of having a romantic relationship with former company exec Sean Womack, who was also fired in December.
Wal-Mart also accused Roehm and Womack of taking gifts from ad agencies during a review.
Roehm said Wal-Mart was engaged in a smear campaign against her.
