ICANN: International Domain Tests Working Out Well

MarketingVOX: Following calls for internationally recognizable domain names, ICANN has completed a series of lab tests and the results are positive, reports CNET.
The calls for international domains have come from countries the languages of which do not use the Latin alphabet; they would like to use their own alphabets to refer to internationalized domain names.
Doing so would, in the view of some, keep the internet a truly global tool and stop its splintering into regional sub-sections. ICANN, in its initial tests, could not find any measurable (negative) impact on root name servers.
This initial test was a back-end, closed-environment experiment. Still remaining to be tested is how international domains would impact the end-user experience.
