Great post, Jeanne. I just linked to you on Marketingblurb.com. Having worked in the financial industry for many years and for AT&T for several years, I can't believe the default bill would be the itemized bill. I would like to think this must have been a mistake on the programming end by AT&T or a complete oversight. However, they had the boxes ready to package the lengthy bills and mail them, so perhaps it wasn't a mistake. Either way, I'm not surprised that they changed things quickly and will be sending summarized bills going forward. I do think Justine's video is hilarious. I love the iPhone commercial music!

That is strange that the *default* bill would be the detailed and expensive sort (to them) rather than the cheap one first -- with customers able to opt in to receive the big bill if they want it.
Why have a policy of wasting money (e.g., paper = money) if you don't have to do so?

Howdy Jeanne,
Interesting timing on this post, because I actually received a text message on my iPhone yesterday from at&t:
We are simplifying your paper bill, removing itemized detail. To view all detail go to att.com/mywireless. Still need full paper bill? Call 611.
So it seems at&t is listening to their customers - at least on this issue.
Problem solved.
