MarketingVOX: Heather Hopkins of Hitwise reported that a recent slew of LinkedIn email invites have pushed UK internet visits up fourfold, year over year, as of last June.
53 percent of LinkedIn’s traffic came from search engines in the week ending July 14 2007, and 11 percent hailed from email, with Gmail and Yahoo! Mail predominating.
LeeAnn notes that Gmail’s strength in LinkedIn’s clickstream traffic reflects the mail client’s appeal to early adopters and net-savvy professionals. But Yahoo! Mail’s traffic strength reflects that age is also a factor.
While Hotmail, which draws an 18-24 year-old crowd, took half of visits to email websites in June, Gmail and Yahoo!, which made a much larger impact on LinkedIn, are overrun with professionals.
Yahoo! in particular appeals to users between 25-44, and 55+. Hitwise has charts and other facts on the data.
