MarketingVOX: Beginning today, Ford is launching a series of video podcasts about the Ford Edge crossover that will seek to both entertain and educate the audience, according to BrandWeek. The vodcasts, titled “The Edge Music Videocast,” will also be available for download to portable players.
The year-long video series will include not only Edge-related content but also music videos from some of today’s cutting-edge artists. The first episode will feature Cat Power, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and others.
Ads for the Edge will be featured at the beginning of the shows and between songs. The low-key ads are an attempt by the marketer to not turn off the young, savvy audience it’s appealing to.
To raise awareness about the vodcasts, Ford is taking out ads on mass-audience sites like Yahoo and niche-audience music blogs. Ford will also send out email alerts. All ad efforts will point back to Fordvehicles.com/edge.
