MediaBuyerPlanner: The Sunday night finale of Flavor of Love 2, the VH1 show starring diminutive former rapper Flavor Flav, drew an impressive 18 rating and 34 share among black adults 18-49.
That means that one out of every three African Americans who watched TV Sunday at 10 p.m. were watching the program, writes Media Life. Among all adults, the show averaged a 4.6.
The show was also the most-watched show ever on VH1, and was one of the most-watched non-sports shows on basic cable for the entire year.
Interestingly, Flavor of Love 2 is a controversial show among the black community, as some see it as a confirmation of the worst stereotypes: It includes “gold-digging” women, “worthless men,” and a deadbeat dad, according to the article.
The finale ended with Flav choosing as his woman a contestant named Deelishis, who has been dubbed a drag queen in many online fan forums.
The series ended the season as the top show in its time slot on cable and broadcast among African Americans in the 18-49 demo.
The article also includes other cable ratings for the week ended Oct. 15.
