Earnings Drop at NBC Universal

MediaBuyerPlanner: NBC Universal continues to struggle from low ad revenues due to deals that came out of the June/July 2005 upfront market, when revenues dropped some $900 million versus 2004, MediaPost reports. NBC Universal net profits slipped 10 percent in the second quarter to $882 million, from $979 million a year ago.
In addition, NBC’s scatter market continued to be weak. For the second year in a row, NBC ended in fourth place among broadcasting networks in the key 18-49 demo. General Electric blamed NBC for GE’s overall second-quarter results: Net profits at the parent company rose only four percent.
