Dow Jones to Reassess How It Delivers News

MarketingVOX: Dow Jones has announced the creation of a committee to reassess the way it delivers its news across all its print and online publications, the New York Times reports (via MediaBuyerPlanner). Paul Ingrassia, president of Dow Jones Newswires and VP of news strategy for Dow Jones, will lead the companywide project. He will work with colleagues from the Journal as well as MarketWatch, Barron’s, Wall Street Journal Online and Dow Jones Newswires to define the most efficient way to deliver business news and information across all media.
Ingrassia is quoted as saying that the purpose of the Dow Jones project is not to integrate all news operations into one, but to enhance the creation of content that differentiates itself from competitors and to reduce the amount of content that’s basic, commodity information.
One change could be a new editorial structure – with the managing editor of The Journal, currently Paul E. Steiger, reporting to a corporate editor. Steiger, who has held the position since 1991, plans to retire at the end of 2007.
