DMers Add Staff; Face Shortage of Analytics Practitioners

(MediaBuyerPlanner) Direct marketers are planning to add staff this quarter, according to a quarterly survey by Bernhart Associates Executive Search. Of 156 direct marketing companies – agencies, suppliers and end-users – 72 percent said they would add positions, 11 percent said they were planning to freeze hiring, and only 1.3 percent planned cutbacks, according to Multichannel Merchant.

Jerry Bernhart, president of Bernhart Associates, said that ever since Q2 2004, the employment numbers have been on the rise, and companies cutting staff have been declining. Employers are looking to fill positions in all major categories, with a particular focus on sales, he said.
BtoB added that candidate shortages are developing in some areas, particularly analytics.
