MediaBuyerPlanner: Direct-to-consumer computer systems provider Dell has announced that it plans to open its first full-sized retail stores in Dallas this summer and in West Nyack, New York, this fall, according to a Dell spokesperson, writes the Los Angeles Times.
Dell will stick to its direct-sales approach, carrying only display models in the stores and asking consumers to place orders online or over the phone and then wait to receive their purchases in the mail. “We’re adamant about staying true to the model. That’s very important to us,” said Dell spokesman Venancio Figueroa. “We also know given our track record with customers that they actually prefer home delivery.”
Currently, Dell runs about 160 small Dell Direct Store kiosks at malls and airports across the nation where customers can speak with sales representatives about Dell products.
