MediaBuyerPlanner: Citigroup is paying $34 million for the naming-rights to Boston’s Wang Center for the Performing Arts.
Citigroup will pay for the sponsorship over a 15-year period, The Boston Globe reports. The bank, which opened the second of 30 retail branches planned for the area by the end of 2007, wants to compete in the crowded Boston market as quickly as possible.
The only other naming rights Citigroup owns are to minor league baseball stadiums on Long Island, N.Y. and in Midland, Texas. Those deals were inherited when it bought other banks.
