China to Limit Minors’ Play of Online Games

MarketingVOX: China is cracking down on online gaming by creating a new system that will limit online play by minors, according to Next-Gen.
A new system, which will require gamers to register using ID cards that indicate their age, will reduce the amount of time that minors can spend playing internet games to a maximum of five hours per day. The system is slated to be fully tested by July 15.
With more than 133 million internet users and a games market set to exceed $1 billion in 2007, the China National Children’s Center claims that 13 percent of Chinese internet users under the age of 18 are addicted to online gaming.
