MediaBuyerPlanner: Katie Couric’s September 5 debut as anchor and managing editor of CBS’s evening newscast will coincide with the show being made available on radio and the Internet in an effort to capture a wider audience, The New York Times reports (via RadioInk).
The plan calls for a simulcast of the first segment of the evening news on CBS Radio News. Already committed to the simulcast are WCBS-AM New York, WTOP Washington and WBZ Boston. Couric is also set to anchor the daily five PM radio-only newscast on CBS Radio News.
