MarketingVOX: CBS will offer, free, its most popular primetime TV programs on its Innertube broadband channel.
With the launch of the new TV season, episodes from hit shows will be posted next month on Innertube, the morning after they are broadcast, reports the Hollywood Reporter. Episodes of the three “CSI” series, “NCIS” and “Numbers” will be available online for four weeks; episodes of “Jericho” and “Survivor” will remain online all season.
Larry Kramer, president of CBS Digital Media, said the move both meets the demands of an online audience and respects the first-run rights of CBS affiliates. “Our belief all along is that all this is additive and doesn’t cannibalize the network television,” Kramer is quoted as saying. “We know there’s an audience out there that will watch it and not be turned away by the advertising.”
