MediaBuyerPlanner: The fall launch of the title Cocktail Weekly – planned as a lifestyle magazine geared toward women in their twenties – has been cancelled.
Bauer Publishing says the uncertainty in the single-copy marketplace was the reason behind the cancellation, writes Mediaweek.
Bauer had hoped that Cocktail would follow on the heels of its successful titles In Touch and Life & Style, which focused more on newsstand than ad sales. But the venture was seen as risky from the beginning, particularly as consumers in their twenties tend to get information online and through mobile devices, and via well-established print publications.
The news follows the surprising announcement from Conde Nast on Monday that it was cancelling women’s magazine Jane.
