Steve: Andy’s right- it’s just another version of the pyramid scheme and 20K Twitter followers give your spam a much greater chance of success than 2K do.
None of the”Get Thousands of Twitter Followers Overnight” types are using Twitter for anything but spamming.
And their e-commerce sites for selling life coaching session?

The thing is, these guys aren’t interested in becoming Dr Pepper, or self validating by having lots of ‘online friends’. If I didn’t despise Twitter so much, I could see the value in having 8,000, 20,000 or whatever ‘friends’ or ‘followers’ – Twitter is now becoming the media of choice for internet marketers (aka spammers…) to get their ‘message’ across – which is usually in the form of a cloaked affiliate link to ‘get larger [biceps/pen*s/IQ] or some other rubbish – even products how you can get 8,000 Twitter followers in a month….
