Anderson Cooper Signs New, Multiyear Deal with CNN

MediaBuyerPlanner: Anderson Cooper has signed a multiyear pact with CNN which will allow the host of Anderson Cooper 360 to continue as an occasional contributor to 60 Minutes.
CNN president Jon Klein, who would not comment directly on the agreement, did say that Cooper is “an exceptional journalist…. We look forward to more of his groundbreaking work in the years to come,” writes Broadcasting & Cable.
Last December, Cooper’s newscast was up more than 30 percent in the 25-54 news demo.
The deal comes after months of speculation that he might have plans to jump ship for a full-time gig with CBS, which had been courting him to take over the reins of The Early Show. That show will continue to struggle along with the co-host trio of Harry Smith, Hannah Storm and Julie Chen, with news anchor Russ Mitchell.
