MediaBuyerPlanner: American Idol hit a season low last night with its Idol Gives Back fundraiser. The show, which saw the contestants and a variety of celebrity guests appealing to viewers to pledge money for numerous charities, pulled just a 10 final Nielsen rating among adults 18-49 for Fox.
Last week’s Tuesday night show was the season low until now, with a 10.2, writes Media Life. Still, last night’s 10 was miles ahead of the rest of the competition. For the night, Fox finished with a 9.1 overnight rating and a 24 share. CBS followed with a 2.8/8. ABC was third with a 2.7/7, Univision was fourth at 1.8/5. NBC and the CW tied for fifth with a 1.7/4.
This season’s American Idol is pacing ahead of last season, year-to-date, in total viewers, at 31 million compared to 30.7 million.
