Ad Rev Up in July, Pages Flat


MediaBuyerPlanner: Total magazine ad revenue for the month of July increased 3.7 percent compared to the same month last year. Ad pages were flat against July 2005 at -0.1 percent.
Year-to-date, Publishers Information Bureau revenue increased of 3.3 percent over the same period in 2005, with ad pages flat at -0.1 percent against the previous year.
Three ad categories posted double-digit revenue and page increases over July 2005: Public Transportation, Hotels & Resorts (revenue +14.6 percent, pages +14.6 percent); Apparel & Accessories (revenue +25.3 percent, pages +14 percent); and Technology (revenue +20.3 percent, pages +10.1 percent). Other dollar and page gainers included Food & Food Products (revenue +16.1 percent, pages 6.6 percent); Media & Advertising (revenue +17.8 percent, pages +9 percent); and Financial, Insurance & Real Estate (revenue +7.2 percent, pages +5.6 percent).
