MediaBuyerPlanner: NBC U has named a new president of ad sales. Marianne Gambelli, formerly executive vp of NBC Universal sales and marketing, will become president of NBC Network ad sales in charge of entertainment, news, sports and Olympics, writes Mediaweek.
Gambelli, who was the lead negotiator in the upfront talks this year, will also head up ad sales for regional offices in Chicago, Los Angeles and Detroit.
The move is part of an NBC U initiative to realign its sales organization. In the next few weeks, Mike Pilot, who came aboard NBC U nine months ago as president sales and marketing, will name a new president to oversee ad sales for USA Network, Sci-Fi, Bravo, Chiller, Sleuth and Universal HD.
Other moves involving the sales department include the appointment of Debbie Reichig as senior vp market development and John Sabino as senior vp commercial excellence, the Hollywood Reporter writes.
Reichig is heading up a new council of ad agency executives that NBC U is pulling together in the hopes of developing and fielding primary research that will lead to better insights and smarter media marketplace decisions.
