NBC Plans Epic Olympics Coverage in '08

stumbleupon digg del.icio.us

MediaBuyerPlanner: NBC plans to air 3,600 hours of coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympics, and to stream 2,200 hours of live coverage online. It also plans to eventually make available 6,600 hours on demand, writes the Lost Remote blog.

NBC is calling it "the most ambitious single media project in history" and points out that the 3,600 hours of coverage will be more than the combined total of every Summer Olympics ever televised within the United States.

Total coverage will equal 212 hours a day, or, as the press release puts it, 8 days a day, for the 17 days of the games.

On-the-go wireless coverage will be detailed in coming months.

The 2008 Beijing Games begin one year from tomorrow.
