MarketingVOX: To appease EU watchdogs' probing questions, Google has agreed to scale back how long it keeps personally identifiable user info in its databases, reports Reuters.
Identifiable user data will now be stored no longer than a year in a half, the low end of an 18- to 24-month compromise originally proposed to EU regulators. After that period, it will be anonymized.
In a letter to the Article 29 Data Protection Working Party in Brussels, Global Privacy Counsel Peter Fleischer of Google said any requirement to hold data for less than 18 months would undermine Google's services.
