MarketingVOX: Kids are becoming pint-sized guides to the Internet, helping parents pay bills and do other tasks online, according to a study by Stars for Kidz called Surfin' on Mom's Turf that polled 6,064 kids aged 8 to 14 (via ClickZ).

The study found that 14 percent have helped parents find tax forms on irs.gov. Another 38 percent helped with sharing photos and emails with relatives, while 36 percent helped with travel planning. A similar percentage also helped get driving directions and movie listings.

Kids' personal business includes music downloads, in which 66 percent partake, while over half spend time on a social network like MySpace and Club Penguin. About a quarter of kids spent around three hours online a day.

77 percent of kids also shop online. While too young for credit cards, they can order items through gift cards.

Nearly half of childre are monitored by their parents while online, and for good reason: nearly a quarter have been caught doing something they shouldn't.
